Weekly 5

Working more on the pots. I added a design to my previous ceramic pot, however having trouble importing it into Painter (see below, distortion issue). Suggestions are super welcome.

I also made some painted potted plants for the back room I took the blank ceramic texture and placed some color + dialed down the bump intensity on it to make it a bit cuter.

By next week I'd like to work on the cups + teapots or the tables. I also need to focus on organizing my UVs into tiles and managing my files since things are kind of all over the place right now.

Weekly 4

This week I've added a wood texture and a potted plant texture. The pot texture is what I will be doing for my Down and Dirty assignment, though when I import it into my scene I might tone down the grime a tad since it contrasts the cleanliness of the rest of the shop. Because I'm not entirely sure how I will be setting up my textures within Maya for the Arnold renderer, for now I just have the base color, normal map, and specularity maps plugged in so my textures might not seem the same in my scene. I've also added a notebook, pencil, and eraser to the final table to make it less empty and more of a lived-in feeling.

Next week I'd like to have the painted brick walls and tables textured.

Weekly 3

All of the modeling is done! I just had pastries left to make and I made four varieties: cupcakes, muffins, cookies, and cakes. You will not see them very close (aside from the cupcake at the end, I may add some more objects to that shot if need be) but they will fill the display bin. I will try to vary the pastries as much as feasibly possible (easiest with the cakes and cupcakes since frosting is a distinguishable difference already) but it's not a main focus and it's the last thing on my list.

I re-rendered my scene with an improved camera and my Substance texturing in there (diffuse only for the moment). I'm happy with it!

For the next weekly I'd like to add some more textures done. It would make sense to have the painted brick and the wood texture done, but we'll see which one I feel like tackling when the time comes.

Weekly 2

This week I have all of my objects completed (aside from the pastries, where I'm unsure if I want to tackle Zbrush or not. If it doesn't pan out, I can model them in Maya). While I mentioned last week that Visor hurt my polycount quite a bit, Ivy Generator completely obliterated it, the ivy alone being around 1.5 million polygons. I need to go in and clean up unnecessary parts (since Ivy Generator not only produced ivy on the back of my object but also clumped up around the corners), however I was advised by the lovely Vinna to wait until later to implement the ivy in my scene because of the sheer poly count. I need to figure out how to assign all of the leaves and vines their texture respectively and was told we'd go over it in class so for now I'm just going to leave the ivy out of my scene.

I also changed my camera, hooray! I went with the idea mentioned in class to change the focal length and start the camera from the back of the room and make its way to the front. Thanks to everyone for the advice! Now my scene looks a lot more appealing in my opinion.
